Mary Winkler Spied Out And About On New Year's

Mary Winkler, who is accused of murdering her preacher husband Matthew Winkler in Selmer, Tenn., spent her New Year's Eve out with friends in McMinville. The night on the town was caught on camera.

When Luis Correa walked inside the doors of the New York Grill in McMinville on New Year's Eve, he couldn't help but notice Mary Winkler with her friends.

"We walked in there and there she was sitting down at the table," Correa said. "They were giggling, drinking, smoking."

Shocked by what he saw, Correa grabbed his cell phone and starting taking pictures of Winker sitting at the bar. One of his friends even approached her.

"So he went and talked to them and said, ‘Are you the preacher killer?' She said, ‘Yeah,'" Correa said.

Winkler's reaction didn't sit well with Correa.

"All this catastrophe has happened and now she's just walking down, like nothing ever happened," he said. "A woman who is raised in the church, how can she turn around and shot her husband on the back, and she's out on the streets."

Investigators said Winkler confessed to shooting her husband. A judge let Winkler bond out of jail last August to and move to McMinville. She's been working at Express Cleaners while she waits for her trial.

"You got to realize, we're not here to judge her, we're here to support Mary until that time comes," Matt Hash, Winkler's manager at Express Cleaners, said.

Nothing in Winkler's bond agreement said she couldn't spend a night on the town celebrating the New Year.

In several national interviews since Mary Winkler's release from jail, her family has stood by her side. Her father, Clark Freeman, has said Matthew Winkler abused his daughter physically and mentally. He claimed that abuse became more apparent during the last three years of their marriage.

Mary Winkler's murder trial is expected to take place in Selmer, Tenn. In the spring.
