SELMER, Tenn. - Jury selection for Mary Winkler's murder trial continued Tuesday in Selmer.

Mary Winkler is accused of killing her minister husband in March 2006 and could face life in prison.

The witness list was released for both sides of the case Tuesday. Both the prosecutor and the defense team have one full page of witnesses, but it's who appears on them that differs dramatically.

Based on the names on the list, Mary Winkler's defense lawyers Steve Farese and Leslie Ballin have focused on calling character witnesses up to the stand, but they have also subpoenaed the family doctor, the sheriff and the main investigator in the case.

The prosecutors have listed a number of TBI agents and at least three doctors.

While Mary Winkler doesn't appear on either list, that doesn't mean she won't be called up to stand to testify in the murder.

Attorneys made it through only 14 of 160 potential jurors Monday - the first day of the trial. They did make more headway Tuesday, though. Farese estimated that a jury would be seated Wednesday afternoon and opening statements would begin Thursday morning.

Potential jurors have been asked if they had been in or knew of someone in an abusive relationship, believed domestic abuse was a real problem and were familiar with how brainwashing worked.

Winkler is charged with first-degree murder - accused of mortally wounding her preacher husband with a shotgun blast as he lay in bed.

Members of Matthew Winkler's Church of Christ congregation found him when they came to the parsonage to see why Winkler had not attended a Wednesday evening church service in March of last year.

Police found Mary Winkler and the couple's three young daughters the next day on the Alabama Gulf coast, some 340 miles away from Selmer.
