Police: Shooting Involved Pacman's Entourage

ATLANTA - Police in DeKalb County want to question Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones in connection with a shooting outside a strip club Monday morning.

Police want to interview Jones because members of his entourage were allegedly involved in the shooting at Club Blaze.

Police said the athlete was not present when shots were fired. Police said around 3 a.m. Monday, Jones and his friends got into an argument with three other men at Club Blaze.

When the three men left, witnesses said so did Jones. Witnesses told police they heard Jones talk about going to get a gun. That's when members of Jones' entourage got into two cars and followed the three men.

Police said someone in Jones' group opened fire and the three other men fired back.

"Happy to be alive. Happy to be alive. Unbelievable night," said a man who did not want his face or name shown on television.

He said Jones threatened him.

"He told me ‘I don't care who you are, I'll kill everybody in this club,'" he said. "I guess he was just drunk and belligerent or whatever. But he's just telling me, ‘I'll kill everybody in the club.'"

Police said that man along with his friends got into a Toyota Seqouia while Pacman drove away.

However, police said Pacman's entourage, in a separate car, started shooting at the other car, hitting it seven times.

Charges have not been filed, but police want to interview Jones as a witness. Jones is a native of College Park, Ga.

"Certainly he could make better choices about where he hangs out and you know, we're working on that and no one's trying to dispute that," said Manny Arora, one of Jones' attorneys.

Arora said the incident has been blown out of proportion and is another bad break for his client.

"His friends, him, his car, nothing was involved in the shooting that was several miles from the night club," Arora said.

Arora said it's just another way of attention-seekers ruining a reputation.

"It seems like if Adam is within a two-mile radius of any problems it's going to end up being his fault somehow," Arora said.

On the day, Tennessee Titans hit golf balls for charity, sports talk station 104.5 The Zone's live broadcast at the course turned into a sounding board on the missing Titan. Last week, Jones accepted a one-year suspension from the NFL.

"It's embarrassing as a Nashvillian," said one caller.

"The only person it reflects badly upon is Pacman Jones," said another called. "He's the idiot. Everybody knows it."

On Monday, Jones' teammates and Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher reacted to news about the incident.

"I don't whether it's true or not," Fisher said. "But to me, I've moved on. If it's true, it's Pac's issue and if it's not true, it's Pac's issue. It's no longer our issue."

Two of Jones' teammates said Monday afternoon that they don't know much about the incident.  However, they talked about the importance of personal responsibility and sound judgment.

"I really haven't tried to talk to him," said running back Chris Brown. "Some things you just have to figure out yourself. It's up to you to figure out on your own. You got to figure it out and do the right things."

"Sometimes we don't make the right decisions, but you don't have anybody to blame at the end of the day but yourself," said safety Chris Hope.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger in Nevada is reviewing the case in which police believe Jones started a melee that led to a triple shooting at a Las Vegas strip club in February. Three people were injured including security guard Tom Urbanski. Urbanski was paralyzed from the waist down.

Investigators for the Clark County District Attorney will contact Georgia authorities to see if anything in that incident would help their investigation.

The incident Monday marks the 11th time Jones has been linked to criminal activity since becoming a Tennessee Titans in 2005.

Jones has been arrested five times, but never convicted of a crime.
