NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Several well-known singers and musicians performed for children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Tuesday.
Alison Krauss and Union Station and other artists performed for children during an annual holiday concert.
For the children who could not leave their beds, the show was piped into their rooms.
This is an annual show sponsored by the Kaylen Foundation, a Franklin-based organization that provides assistance to children and families enduring an illness that results in extended hospital stay.
For patients such as 5-year-old Morgan Jackson, the concert was a welcome break from monitors and medicine.
A ruptured appendix brought her to the hospital.
Two days ago, she couldn't dance, said her mother Brandi Jackson.
"I'm glad to see her up like this, to dance and sing because a couple days ago she couldn't," Jackson said. "So now it kind of makes you happy to see her up and be able to do this."
Jillian Pasley, 10, is suffering from complications due to two transplants, but she got lost in the beat Tuesday.
"Music does heal," said her mother Jessica Pasley. "I can see her attitude has changed. It's so important. She's singing now. It's made a difference for me to see her happy."
Some of the world's bluegrass singers and musicians gave their time and talent for the holiday concert.
"I was talking to some of the other guys, this is the one show a year where you want to go and see an empty house," said Dan Tyminski, a bluegrass composer, vocalist, and member of Alison Krauss and Union Station.
"These kids are so deserving," he said. "They need more stuff like this."
The concert gave Jillian a boost to work toward her goal of going home for Christmas.
"It made me feel good that these people took time out of their life to come down here," she said.
Others artists who performed included Bela Fleck, Jars of Clay and Maura O'ConnellTalk of the Town
