(AP) INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA has selected Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, Tampa and Indianapolis to host the women's basketball Final Fours from 2012 through 2016.
The five cities were selected Friday from among eight finalists announced in August.
Denver (2012) and Nashville (2014) will be hosting the event for the first time. The 2014 Final Four will be held at the Sommet Center - hosted by Nashville-based Ohio Valley Conference.
"This is a great day for Music City," Nashville Vice-Mayor and Music City Bid Committee Co-Chair Diane Neighbors said in a statement. "The Nashville team worked very hard and produced a fantastic proposal. Over the next six years we will be putting together a Final Four that players, coaches, and fans won't forget."
Nashville will also host the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Convention. The association includes about 5,000 basketball coaches from junior high, high school, AAU, college and professional teams.
New Orleans will be the host city in 2013, Tampa in 2015 and Indianapolis, the home of the NCAA headquarters, in 2016.
