Mark Bellinger is a reporter who isn't afraid to ask the tough questions. It's a quality that makes him an asset in the NewsChannel 5 newsroom. He specializes in crime stories and covers the Metro Police Department. He covers stories of every type, from complex political issues, to live breaking news, to stories that will warm your heart. Mark is also a big sports fan, so don't be surprised if you see him in the crowd at a Nashville Predators hockey game or a Tennessee Titans football game. In fact, he has been known to fill in on the sports desk from time to time when our sports anchors are on assignment. He has plenty of experience at it.

During a stint at KIDK-TV in Idaho, Mark learned the ropes in both news and sports. As you can imagine, he's a great guy to have around when rumors began to surface about major league teams coming to town. At KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington, Mark covered the North Idaho beat. Among his assignments: the Randy Weaver standoff at Ruby Ridge.

And did we mention his reporting is award-winning? Mark been honored with Associated Press awards for best coverage of spot news and best sports reporting. He's also been nominated for several Emmy Awards.. Mark Bellinger is originally from Denver, Colorado, but he's called Nashville home for several years.

This graduate of the University of Colorado's School of Journalism appears to be enjoying Tennessee life. He's covered stories across the state, and sampled the area's flavor in his spare time... whether it's Mule Day in Columbia or the World's Biggest Fish Fry in Paris.

In his spare time, Mark likes to play a game of golf. He follows all kinds of pro sports, and reads everything he can get his hands on. By the way - Mark has a fashion signature that fits in here in Nashville. Every now and then you'll see him in his favorite footwear -  his comfy cowboy boots..

Mark has a young daughter with his wife Cindy.
