PORTLAND, Tenn. - In these tough times, families are looking for ways to cut back and save. Two women are working to cut and organize coupons like a full-time job.
Jennifer Nickerson and Nicole Gardner are stay at home moms and said coupons can be found in papers and on the web to save money.
"We are known around our church as coupon queens," said Nickerson.
The women collect their coupons and map out shopping trips, even stockpile sale items for resale later down the road.
"It's the difference between us doing this at home or our husbands potentially having to work two jobs to make it through," said Nickerson.
The two women said they are sitting on top of a goldmine.
"It has definitely been a total change it allows me to stay home with my children. I'd say over the last couple of years I've saved $12,000 - $15,000 a year," said Garner.
The coupon cutters said the coupons are literally at their fingertips.
"I have a receipt here for last week's groceries and I saved $73.57 in coupons and discounts," said Nickerson. "I would love to show others how I do what I do."
Soon the women will be offering a class to show others how to save money.
The next class is set for May 2 in Gallatin. The class costs $15, but both women say they'll be giving away savings worth more than that.
