BLAINE, Ky. (AP) - A highway in eastern Kentucky is being named in honor of 8 brothers who served in the military.
State Rep. Rocky Adkins, who was instrumental in getting Kentucky 3394 named the Ison Brothers Veterans Memorial Highway, says the kind of patriotism shown by the sons of James Ira and Loretta Ison of Blaine should be recognized.
Adkins says their military service spanned almost 40 years, and one brother earned a Purple Heart for his efforts in World War II.
A ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. EDT Friday at the Blaine Community Center in Lawrence County. 4 of the eight brothers are still living and are scheduled to attend the event.
