Two Cities Opt Out Of Guns In Parks Law

Posted:

Clarksville and Murfreesboro have both decided to opt out of a new state law that allows guns to be carried in state and local parks.

Murfreesboro leaders decided to make the move after the TSSAA threatened to pull their yearly tournament that has traditionally been held in the city's parks.

Clarksville also approved a separate ordinance banning weapons on city-owned or managed properties.

The law allowing guns in parks goes into effect on Sept. 1, 2009.
