NASHVILLE, Tenn. - State healthcare officials in Tennessee held a special training session to help behavioral health professionals be there for soldiers when they return from war.
It's called Operation Immersion, and the program gave health experts a chance to better understand the life of a soldier.
On Friday in Smyrna guardsmen and women shared their stories of deploying overseas, and spoke of the stress involved with leaving for war and returning from it.
Attendees also got a chance to learn about war-related issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and suicide prevention - all timely issues in light of the Fort Hood tragedy.
