NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Taylor Swift made history at the CMA Awards, becoming the youngest person to win entertainer of the year and the first solo female to win it in a decade.
The tearful 19-year-old cried as she accepted her trophy.
“I will never forget this moment because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me,” said Swift.
No woman had won the award since Shania Twain did in 1999. Kenny Chesney had won the last four years in a row.
Swift broke Carrie Underwood's winning streak by capturing the Female Vocalist title. The teen also won for Album and Video of the Year.
Other winners included Brad Paisley for Male Vocalist, his third straight win. Darius Rucker took home the CMA trophy for best new artist. Lady Antebellum broke Rascal Flatts' six year streak by winning group of the year.
For the third time in a row, the CMA named Sugarland its duo of the year.
