Police Release Identity Of Child Hit By Car

CENTERVILLE, Tenn. - A vehicle hit a child on Highway 50 east of Centerville Wednesday morning.

Mike Browning, spokesperson for the Tennessee Highway Patrol, said 7-year-old Jeremiah Adkins was crossing the road just outside his home when he was hit by a 1994 GMC driven by 18-year-old Caleb Truett.

Jeremiah was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

THP was still investigating as of 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.
