CLINTON, Tenn. (AP) - East Tennessee police say a mom bopped a cop and now shares assault charges with her adult son.
The Knoxville News Sentinel quoted Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Hobbs who said he arrested 39-year-old Robert D. Stooksbury who was accused of shooting at another man Thanksgiving afternoon.
Hobbs said the suspect's mother, Sarah Stooksbury, followed the police car from her home in Andersonville to the jail in Clinton and demanded he release her son.
Hobbs said he tried to grab her hand and calm her down when she punched him in the face.
Sarah Stooksbury is charged with a half-dozen offenses, including assault.
Robert Stooksbury faces charges that include aggravated assault.
Both are free on bond.
