NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Thousands of Vanderbilt University students could be at risk of identity theft after a professor's computer was stolen.
The desk-top computer contained the names and social security numbers of more than 7,000 current and former students.
The computer was stolen in February. University officials have informed students about the incident and offered 12-months of credit monitoring.
The university also advised professors to purge personal information like social security numbers from their computer files.
