NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Police Chief Ronal Serpas has been in New Orleans interviewing to become the next Superintendent of Police. Serpas is one of three finalists for the job.
"Being down there these last two days I had the chance to listen to a lot of things from the search committee. I had the chance to listen to a lot of issues and questions and whether or not I may or may not even be the person who could assist with that," said Serpas.
He said deciding to become part of the search process was a difficult decision. He said the Nashville community remains his number-one priority.
"I'm terribly proud of Nashville and this is the greatest police department in America, and because it's such a good police department - people want to know what we think. They want to know what our department is doing, and how we're getting it done," said Serpas.
Serpas left the New Orleans Police Department nine years ago. No word yet on when a final decision will be made.
