NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A new partnership was announced Friday in Nashville aimed at helping flood victims rebuild.
Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville are pairing up with the Mayor's "We Are Home" assistance initiative.
Volunteers got to work Friday putting up insulation and drywall in Laura Fortier's home in Bordeaux.
"It's amazing. I can, just, it's amazing. It's a blessing. God is blessing me so much," said Fortier.
Hands on Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville plan to rebuild about 50 homes that qualified for the "We Are Home" initiative.
These homeowners must also meet Rebuilding Together Nashville's five partnership criteria: homeowners must be low-income, earning 80 percent of the median income or less; homes must be single-family residences; no back property taxes can be owed on these residences; homes must be permanent, free-standing structures; homes must be remediated and ready for rebuilding and to accept volunteers.
Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville will allocate $500,000 for the purchase of building supplies.
