Tennessee On Pace To Break Early Voting Record

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee is on pace to break a record with two days left in early voting before the August 5 primary.

The latest figure from the Tennessee Secretary of State's office showed nearly 395,000 people had voted as of July 28. Early voting continues Friday and ends Saturday.

Officials said the total number of people who vote early could more than double the 209,474 who voted early for the August 2008 election.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett said he was pleased with the high number this year because it suggests "early voting continues to be a popular option for Tennesseans."
