SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – An attorney for an adoption agency said a Russian boy who was sent back to Moscow by his American adoptive mother has been placed back in an orphanage.
Larry Crain, a lawyer working for World Association for Children and Parents, said the boy, now 8 years old, was put back in a Russian orphanage after his adoptive mother, Torry Hansen of Shelbyville, Tennessee, sent him back in April.
She sent him back with a note saying she didn't want him anymore because he had severe psychological problems.
The Shelbyville Times-Gazette also reported Friday that Crain filed a court petition in Tennessee naming Jennifer Terhune as "an adopted mother who is willing to serve as guardian for the minor child."
Crain said the Wilson County mother of three adopted children approached the agency after hearing about the case.
