JAMESTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- A federal report said visits to Lake Cumberland were down nearly 22 percent during a three-month period compared to last year.
From May to July, more than 1.4 million visited the recreational lake in south-central Kentucky. That's down from 1.8 million in the same time frame in 2006.
The figures were included in a draft environmental impact statement prepared by the Army Corps of Engineers, released Wednesday.
It reported on the environmental and economic effects of ongoing repairs at Wolf Creek Dam to repair leaks.
Numbers for August and September were not available.
Corps engineers lowered the lake by more than 40 feet earlier this year and kept it at that level during the summer months, the busiest tourist season.
