NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police are investigating stolen property sold on a popular Web site.
In January, someone stole $3,000 worth of antiques from Rick Miller's rental property in East Nashville.
A few weeks later, he spotted the items on sale on Craiglist, a site where people post ads for services, roommates, furniture sales, etc.
The items were available from a home on his street.
With a search warrant, police took the stolen property from the home.
Police did not charge the homeowner. Police think he bought the items from someone else.
"We're hopeful this incident will get us to a major player in antique business in the area," said Sgt. Robert Weaver.
Police said there were signs of forced entry at Miller's place.
Detectives acknowledge there are many people who have no idea they are buying stolen goods.
No arrests have been made in this case, but detectives are following several leads.
