NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Would you know what to do if someone pointed a gun in your face? Some survivors of crime have decided to stand up for themselves, anticipating the next attack with their own weapon.
Violence could happen anywhere at any time. Many people are unprepared because they think it will never happen to them.
Now, everyday citizens who were robbed, stalked and attacked have decided to fight back.
An ER Doctor known for saving lives, nearly lost her own.
"I chased him, opened the door I was trying to drag him down. He started his car took off with me along," said Dr. Rosa Stone. "I'm going to defend myself."
Stone signed up for Krav Maga. Krav Maga is self defense system designed by the Isreali Defense Force. IDF service is mandatory for every able-bodied man and woman in Israel over the age of 18.
Krav Maga is the hand to hand combat used on the battlefields in Israel and in other parts of the world. According to instructors, while Krav Maga uses martial arts techniques, it's more practical.
'I have black belt in Taekwondo, I studied in Korea, trained in Soel. It's great discipline. But they don't teach self defense," said Moose Moore.
Moore believes that because Krav Maga is so practical, it saves lives. That's why he travels nationwide with his company Tiger Six teaching this vigilance training.
Instructor Partick Terry said Krav Maga teaches that, "If you have to fight, fight smarter not stronger."
"Our system is designed to give you fewer things to think about under stress," said Terry.
Krav Maga class teaches victims just a few moves and a change of mindset.
"That time, pure instinct, Now I know how to grab a gun defend myself use my body rather than pure emotion," Stone said.
Vigilance training is spreading across Nashville. Belmont, Metro and the YMCA have asked Tiger-Six to train in "non traditional security." Krav Maga is strongly suggested to go along with that training as a tool to survive and escape an attack.
