Police have identified the 15-year-old boy who died following a double shooting not far from downtown Nashville.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday on Lewis Street, about one mile south of downtown.

Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department said a woman and the teen were shot near the J.C. Napier homes.

The teen has been identified as Jaezoine Woods. Officials said they believe an ongoing argument led to the shooting.

Police confirmed they have been working to determine what led to the continuing rift between Woods and others that ended with his death.

A preliminary investigation showed Woods and others allegedly had an altercation in a parking lot and several shots were fired.

Authorities said it was believed Woods was hit, and he ran away. The suspects then reportedly left in a white car. They cut Woods off, according to officials, and fired at him again.

Reports stated Woods collapsed in the 700 block of Lewis Street.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he passed away.

Officials released the following photos of the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. They said the vehicle has a sun roof and larger rims.

Authorities confirmed a 45-year-old woman who lived at the J.C. Napier homes was also hit by a bullet when she heard shots and walked onto her back porch. Police said they believed she was hit by a ricocheted bullet. She was treated and released from the hospital.

Officials described one of the suspects as a young man, standing around 6' tall with a heavy build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and orange shorts.

Anyone with information has been urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

Youth violence continues to be a growing problem in the Metro Nashville area. Earlier in the evening, a 14-year-old was injured in a shooting on Alameda Street.

The victim in Tuesday night's shooting was the 13th teen shot and killed this year.
