Police have arrested a man they said stole $20,000 in jewelry during a home burglary in June.

An arrest affidavit said the homeowner discovered Daniel Vallejo, Jr. inside his house and punched him in the face.

The crime took place on June 19 at a home in South Nashville on Overton Lea Road, according to police.

Around 2:30 a.m. the homeowner woke up to find Vallejo and punched him, causing him to fall and bang his head into a couple of shelves.

After Vallejo ran, the homeowner said he found about $20,000 in jewelry was missing.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department came out, and K9 officers tracked down Vallejo's wife, Lana, in an SUV waiting nearby.

She said she'd dropped him off around midnight. The next day, the victim identified Vallejo in a photo lineup, and he had swelling and a cut around his eye.

As for the jewelry, police said Vallejo's wife sold it at a pawn shop. She was arrested and charged, as well.
