One person was killed on Memorial Day in a crash on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard in Hendersonville.

The wreck happened Monday night around 8 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Exit 6 for New Shackle Island Road.

Investigators said a driver crossed the median and hit a cable post before slamming into two other cars head-on.

A driver was ejected and died at the scene. He was identified as 25-year-old Robert Naquin, of Hendersonville.

The other driver was injured but is expected to survive.

Traffic was backed up in both directions, and photos from the scene showed most of the highway was shut down in that area for several hours. The road reopened early Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remained ongoing. Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Hendersonville Police Department.
