Students at John Early Museum Magnet Middle Prep put together an exhibit that was opened not just to students but the entire community as well.

Sixty years ago this September, Nashville schools were desegregated. That was the subject of the students' officially sanctioned museum.

It's called museum themed learning. It's the heart of what they do there.

"You think what is a museum school? Well its about brining the artifacts from around the world and lay in front of a child to learn its history," said Principal Rise Pope.

This assignment was focused on desegregation and various landmark events of the civil rights era, and the students do it all - the research, writing and even act as curators.
