A Metro Public Works employee found the body of a woman in North Nashville not far from John Early Middle School.
The call came in Tuesday afternoon in the 2000 block of Owen Street at 8:30 a.m.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said a Metro Public Works employee found the body of 59-year-old Jackie Mayes, of Meharry Boulevard.
The employee told police Mayes was lying next to a partially burnt Chevrolet Blazer.
An initial examination did not determine a cause of death. However, an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
Police asked anyone with information on Mayes’ death or his whereabouts prior to Tuesday morning to call investigators at 615-862-7901 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
