Metro Nashville Public Schools crossing guards have been set to get a new look.

The new uniforms will no longer be the white button-up. Instead, crossing guards will sport a more comfortable royal blue polo-style shirt.

The move was also more cost effective for the department.

Metro Schools officials said they're getting the word out about the changes.

For anyone interested in becoming a crossing guard, a job fair has been planned at the Metro Southeast station from 9 a.m. until noon Friday.

Officials asked that those interested use the main entrance, and someone will direct you to where the job fair is being held.

They added you can fill out an application onsite or take one with you.

The starting pay for crossing guards is $11.30 to $13.94 an hour.

School officials said there were no benefits for the part-time job position, but a $500 bonus at the end of the school year was included.

Officials also said the position would be a great job for those who are retired, self-employed, or college students, and they said the position included 15-20 hours a week.
