A Nashville mother has pleaded for her 18-year-old son's killers to turn themselves in to police.

As Avita Osborne and her husband Mitchell looked out over the 500-acre farm that surrounds their home in Old Hickory, they said there were constant reminders of their 18-year-old son, Ahmad, who once spent his days working in these fields.

Ahmad was an avid horse rider, who frequently competed in rodeos across Tennessee.

He died on June 22 after being shot and killed outside the Glastonbury Woods Apartments in Nashville. Almost two months later, no arrests have been made, and no closure for his heartbroken family.

"To just take another person's life, that's evil," said Avita said, clutching the program from her son's funeral.

"I just wish they'd turn themselves in," she added.

Investigators from the Metro Nashville Police Department initially called Ahmad's death a drug deal gone bad, but his parents said the only thing found in their son's car was horse riding gear.

"I don't question if detectives are working on the case. My problem is witnesses won't come forward out of fear," Avita said.

Ahmad was among a staggering statistic in Davidson County that only continues to rise - more than 67 homicides committed since the start of 2017.

"Innocent people are losing their lives," his mom said.

Anyone with information about Ahmad's death has been asked to call CrimeStoppers at 615-74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
