Police continue to monitor several Confederate monuments in Franklin after rumors of threats circulated on social media.

The rumors included the Confederate soldier in the public square, Carnton Plantation, and Carter House.

The Battle of Franklin Trust confirmed that there were no actual threats, but police are still monitoring their locations and doing extra patrols.

The Battle of Franklin Trust did not request the extra patrols, but said they are thankful for the police looking out for them.

The city itself said that this was done under an abundance of caution. They wanted to make sure nothing violent would happen, and that no property was illegally damaged.

It's unclear how much longer the extra precautions will still be in place, but there has been at least one officer stationed at the public square all through the night, and all day Thursday.
