Nashville schools got a facelift during this weekend's Hands on Nashville volunteer event.

An estimated 1,500 volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help Nashville schools.

Saturday marked the 25th annual Hands on Nashville. Volunteers planted flowers, fixed gardens, and improved the inside of the schools by painting.

Warner Elementary School Principal Denise Jacono told NewsChannel 5 that all of their efforts not only help the school itself but also the students who attend.

"An atmosphere should say we want you here. We want you to learn. We want you to grow, and we want you to feel good about your space. We also want you to feel good about who you are because we provided a space that really says we care." said Jacono.

Several employees of NewsChannel 5 spent their time helping out as volunteers as well.
