Hunters Custom in East Nashville announced it will be moving locations to 955 East Trinity Lane after 49 years on Main Street next to Five Points.

The business, which has been open since 1968, focuses on custom tires, wheels, lift kits, and accessories. Over the years, employees have watched the area around them change as East Nashville grew in popularity.

"There used to be a market across the street. There used to be a repair shop there, and every thing has changed," Orville, an employee of Hunters since 1968, said. "All the restaurants and everything have been moving in."

The building that housed Hunters since it opened for business will be home to restaurants, keeping the historic building intact.

"It'll be good, they're supposed to have a booth with our name on it," Johnny Freund, owner of Hunters Custom, said.

Freund said he had been given offers for his building numerous times over the years, but he never accepted one until now. "When something feels right, that's when you do it."

The new location will offer more parking and a larger work space, and it's only about a mile up the road, but it will require employees to change their route into work.

"I've made that right turn for many, many years in this parking lot. I think my car automatically takes a right!" Freund joked.

Even for those who haven't gotten work done at Hunters have seen the iconic sign that seems to flare up in the sunlight like it's on fire.

"It's an eye-catcher, people come all the time and take pictures of it," Freund said, adding that he plans to take all of the unique things that make Hunters special along with him to the new location.

The location on Main Street will close its doors for the final time on Monday, and the new location on Trinity Lane will open for business the next day, on Tuesday.
