A man was found dead following a shooting at a salon in Lewisburg.

According to officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the incident happened at CW Cuts, a salon in the 1300 block of South Ellington Parkway in Marshall County, on Monday morning.

A call came in to emergency officials around 10:15 a.m. Monday saying a man was in the salon who was known to have an active order of protection against him. That man was later identified as 51-year-old Steven A. Hopwood.

A second call then stated Hopwood had a gun. TBI officials said a Marshall County Sheriff's deputy responded to the scene and exchanged gunfire with Hopwood.

The deputy was struck, but authorities said the injury was non-life threatening.

Additional deputies responded, and authorities said Hopwood fired at them. None of them were injured.

A SWAT team then entered the salon where they found Hopwood dead. TBI officials said an autopsy has been set to determine how he died.

Hostages were also found in an adjacent room. No injuries were reported among them.

Further details on the situation were limited. The investigation remained ongoing with the TBI.
