Murfreesboro officials confirmed a Texas woman has been arrested in the 2007 murder of her boyfriend.

Reports stated 31-year-old Sara Parsons has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Phon Siharath on May 17, 2007.

According to reports, Parsons had been a suspect ever since Siharath was found dead from a gunshot wound to his head in his Grange Place home off of Asbury Road in Rutherford County.

Officials said the 9 mm handgun used in the murder was found at the scene.

Parsons was 22 years old at the time of Siharath’s murder. His family identified her as his girlfriend and added she had been with him late on the night before he was found dead.

“[The arrest] has given [Siharath’s family] some sense of closure,” Rutherford County Deputy Chief Keith Lowery said. “The family will follow the case through the judicial system.”

Parsons, of Houston, Texas, was being held on a $150,000 bond. Authorities said she waived extradition and was being held in the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center as of Tuesday.

A court date has been scheduled for Parsons for February 21.

Anyone with information on this murder has been urged to call Detective Steve Kohler at 615-904-3046.

Officials with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Cold Case Unit have solved ten cases, which included nine homicides and one kidnapping. They’ve currently been investigating around 12 more cold cases.

“I am incredibly proud of the work they do and their dedication to solve cases,” Lowery said. “This arrest will help the family who has been left wondering who is responsible for the death of their loved ones.”
