A death investigation has gotten underway after a body was found in a vehicle on train tracks in Nashville.

Police said they found a woman's body early Friday morning in a silver SUV on the train tracks near Amy Lynn Drive just off of Ashland City Highway.

This discovery came after authorities responded to reports that someone was driving along the train tracks.

Officials confirmed just after 6 a.m. Friday that her death was suspicious, but foul play was not believed to be involved.

Reports stated the woman was seen driving erratically before the incident on the tracks. She came to a halt on the tracks after driving on them for approximately one fourth of a mile.

Authorities said a guard told her she couldn’t be there, but she kept going.

The woman's identity had not been released. Officials said toxicology reports had been planned to determine if she had any alcohol or drugs in her system.

The investigation was taking place near the Nashville Waste Management Landfill. Police were on the tracks in a wooded area.

According to the field captain, they were able to make contact with the train company, and all train traffic in that area was halted.

Officials with the Office of Emergency Management were also on scene. Further details were not available as the investigation remained ongoing.
