A pedestrian was hit and killed on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County.
Officials said the wreck happened in the eastbound lanes by mile marker 90, just past the exit for Epps Mill Road, right after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities said the pedestrian was on the interstate and did pass away in the crash. Officials confirmed the victim was a 56-year-old man, not a resident of Tennessee, but his identity was not released.
Reports stated the roadway was closed to eastbound traffic while crews worked at the scene. Westbound drivers were not affected.
