Friends of an Antioch man facing charges in a Macon County double homicide said he's wrongly accused.

Rodney Garrett was arrested Thursday for the shooting deaths of 44-year-old James Turner and 32-year-old Alisha Mondoni. The TBI has been searching for a second suspect named Keithandre Murray.

"It's just really hard to believe he's in the situation he's in today," said Calea Wardlaw, a friend who has known Garrett for more than a decade.

Wardlaw has alleged Garret and his girlfriend drove from Nashville to Macon County with Keithandre Murray and his girlfriend. The group planned to meet the stepfather of Murray's girlfriend.

But once the group arrived, an altercation broke out between the stepfather and his daughter.

"Rodney was there basically trying to mediate the situation, and Keithandre opened fire on two victims inside the car, lost their lives," Wardlaw said.

Garrett has now been facing two counts of first degree murder. The TBI has continued to search for Murray.

"Rodney just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time," Wardlaw said. "When everything went down, Rodney fled and tried to separate himself from the situation and somehow it ended up right back on him."
