New information has been released surrounding Sheriff Robert Arnold who’s currently in jail awaiting his February trial on federal corruption charges.

Recorded jailhouse phone calls to his wife could end up hurting his case.

The Rutherford County Sheriff was sent to jail for violating the terms of his pre-trial release because of domestic assault allegations.

However, in a sworn affidavit, wife Megan Arnold said he never assaulted her and added she wants a federal judge to release him.

Arnold also reportedly said he doesn't remember the incident.

But in a new filing, the prosecution said jailhouse phone calls suggested Arnold did remember, saying to his wife, "You kept coming at me."

According to the documents, he also said, “You're the only one who can fix all of this."

Megan Arnold allegedly tried to assure him she's working to get him out, but said he can't just go to the judge and say, “Hey, I was lying."

Arnold also threatened to take his wife out of his will, and at one point said, ”Tell my kids I loved them very much."

Sheriff Arnold was never charged with assault; however, the judge decided there was enough evidence to send him to jail.
