A man has been charged in a homicide case that happened south of downtown Nashville.

The fatal shooting took place around 2:20 p.m. on Friday, September 23 in the 100 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard at the J.C. Napier public housing development.

Authorities confirmed 22-year-old Tyrus D. Evans was taken into custody Thursday night at his sister’s home in the 3500 block of Magnum Drive.

Evans was charged in the shooting death of 43-year-old Rickie Cornell Anderson.

According to an investigation, Evans was identified as the man who approached Anderson in a crowd of people and targeted him.

Authorities said Anderson was shot in his midsection. He passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police said the motive behind the shooting appeared to be a lingering dispute between the two men.

Evans was being held in the Metro Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
