In Downtown Nashville, some members of Nashville's Chinese Community gathered in a peaceful protest to get the word out about Peter Liang.

Saturday, the group said they feel Rookie Officer Peter Liang with the New York Police Department was wrongfully convicted recently of second-degree manslaughter for the death of a man while on patrol.

The officer told investigators his gun accidentally discharged, but the jury found him guilty. He was dismissed from the police force.

“We are demanding justice not only for the Chinese Americans. We are demanding justice for minorities, no matter what color you are,” said Chao Chen You, protest organizer. “We think this is the flawed criminal justice system, so that's the key part.”

Other protests were held around the country, including this one in Pittsburgh.

They're designed to inform the general public and raise awareness about the issue, which the group believes is unequal treatment of minority officers in New York.
