A police officer in Cross Plains has been charged with sexual battery by an authority figure.
The investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began on November 30.
Authorities said the investigation led to the arrest of Charles Logan Abernathy, a Robertson County School Resource Officer.
Reports stated Abernathy committed sexual battery of a minor victim while on-duty and serving at the victim’s School Resource Officer. The incidents happened since August 11.
Abernathy was taken into custody Friday afternoon in Portland. He was charged with five counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.
Abernathy was being held in the Robertson County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
