Sweet Creations pie shop has officially relocated to Jefferson Street, bringing all of their operations under one roof and creating 42 new jobs.

"People are beginning to feel the energy that's coming back to Jefferson Street, and just to be apart of that is awesome," Barbara Toms, CEO of Sweet Creations, said.

The pie shop hosted its grand opening on Saturday even though some of the equipment won't arrive until Tuesday, but plenty of people were on hand to celebrate the new location and eat some delicious pies.

While the pies have been at the root of what Sweet Creations does, with the new location, they'll also be creating some jobs.

"Most of the comments that I've heard have been about our mission to revitalize the area and to bring jobs to the community," Toms explained.

As part of the low-interest loan the shop received, Toms has agreed to employ people with criminal histories who have been unemployed and have child support judgments against them.

"I know that some people have gotten into trouble, we welcome them," Herman Patton, also known as the "Pie Man" said. "We welcome them into our business."

"This gives us a chance to hire people ourselves and give them a fresh start," Toms added.

But at the root of the business, it's all about the pies and making people's days better one sweet creation at a time.

"You're making people happy with pies," Toms said. "It doesn't get any better than that, it really doesn't."
