A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting from 2015 was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Nashville.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 53-year-old Andre Swett was indicted for second degree murder by the Davidson County Grand Jury earlier this month.

Swett was pulled over Monday morning on 4th Avenue South at Interstate 40 because his license plate had reportedly expired.

An officer ran a routine computer check of Swett’s name and discovered that he had been indicted in the shooting death of 27-year-old Anthony Williams Jr.

Williams was shot and killed on June 7 at Paul’s Market on Jefferson Street after he and Swett allegedly got into an argument early that morning.

According to police, Swett told detectives that he shot Williams because he felt threatened and feared for his safety.

Swett was held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
