Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed a Giles County man was arrested on multiple charges, including murder and aggravated arson.

A series of arsons had been under investigation since February 21. Reports stated the Ardmore Police Department had responded to 13 fires since January.

One of the fires happened at a home on Pheasant Run, and the homeowner, identified as 83-year-old Paulene Shelton, was inside the home at the time. She was pulled from the home, but she later died from her injuries.

Edwin Neil King, age 19, was identified as the person who set nine of the fires, including the fatal fire, during the course of an investigation.

A Giles County Grand Jury indicted King on Monday with with one count of first degree murder, two counts of aggravated arson, and four counts of arson.

He was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Giles County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
