The Metro Nashville Christmas tree arrived in Public Square Park.

The Norway Spruce stands about 30-feet tall and crews will work to put as many as 6,000 lights on it.

Mayor Megan Barry came out of her office to see the tree as it arrived Monday to downtown Nashville.

Metro Parks officials said they search throughout Davidson County for a Christmas tree each year.

This year a homeowner wanted to get rid of two trees that had grown too tall and were blocking driveways.

The annual tree lighting celebration will be held Friday, December 1, at 6 p.m. at Public Square Park.
