Big names in Nashville’s film industry walked the red carpet at the 47th annual Nashville Film Festival.

The 10-day festival kicked off in Green Hills Thursday night. They'll be showing thousands of hours worth of films inside the Regal Cinema.

A total of 5,000 films were submitted in this year’s festival, but only 273 made the cut. The films ranged in length from one minute to two and a half hours.

Organizers said the festival has become a great start for those in the film industry trying to get noticed.

“It's a much more interactive way of seeing the movie or showing a movie. Normally when you go to a multiplex you don't get to chat with a filmmaker afterward, but here you do,” said Brian Owens with the Nashville Film Festival. “So it creates a new way of intermingling between the creator and the audience and every year the people enjoy it.”

One of the films that has garnered a lot of the attention is country star Rory Feek’s documentary titled Josephine.

It was Co-written by Feek, who lost his wife Joey to cancer this year.

“Aaron is my cousin. We grew up together. He manages our music career, but in the movie world, we get a chance to be collaborators, and we wrote this film together,” said Feek. “And to get the chance to share in this moment with all of this great talent and with our story, it’s incredible.”

A complete schedule of the festival can be found on its website.
