Fathers from across Nashville came together to promote strong and healthy families.

The first ever Restoring Fatherhood March was held Saturday in the James Cayce Homes.

Two groups, “Stronger Than My Father" and "Dads Against Destruction,” teamed up for the event.

They walked through low income areas to pray with residents and encourage men to be involved in their families.

They think it’s an important message to share.

“A lot of these communities don't have fathers in the home, and when you see stats of kids who don't have fathers, you see young African American males making bad decisions,” said Marcus Meneese, of Stronger Than My Father.

Every month, the group will go to another community to pray. Organizers said they hope the movement continues to build momentum.
