With drivers in the middle of the Thanksgiving travel weekend, police will be out, too, making sure the roads are safe.

The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office has been wanting to make sure you know what to do and how to act if you're pulled over.

Officials with the sheriff's office said the most important thing for people to do is to remain calm.

They said some people actually get out of their car -- one of the worst things they say you can do because the officer doesn't know what to expect.

The sheriff's office will be offering a class for teens beginning in December to teach the right way to respond to a traffic stop.

The traffic stop class will take place on December 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Patterson Park Community Center.

The event will be free, but you have to pre-register with the sheriff's office.
