General Motors Spring Hill and the South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance came together to hold their second annual "Go Tech" manufacturing academy.
The 2-day camp provided students the chance to work with engineers in the facility as well as building wooden cars with each other to simulate real-work situations.
The goal of the camp is to give students interest into seeking jobs in the profession.
"It wasn't too long ago that I was in high school and college didn't know exactly what I wanted to go into. And um I went into a plant as an intern, I had a great time, and uh it kind of showed me what I wanted to do,” saidMichael Gruhn.
Organizers hoped to continue the camp as manufacturing continues to grow in the area.
