Women Still Wear Lipstick In Tough Times

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The number of people that have signed up to sell Avon has jumped 100 percent as people look for work or extra money.

Cherry Rocha had to downsize her home because of her third layoff this year.

"It's depressing," said Rocha. "I can't afford rent on this place anymore."

Rocha said her new, different kind of job has given her hope.

"Shoot for the moon and even if you land amongst the stars you're okay," said Rocha.

Rocha has a new home, and more importantly, made money during tough times.

"I just said three times is enough and jobs are hard to come by right now in Tennessee and even though I'm looking, I'm doing Avon also," said Rocha

Becke Alexander with Avon said Rocha was not alone in her quest for the sales representative job.

"Women are still going to put on lipstick no matter how bad the economy is, women are still going to put on a little lipstick," said Alexander.

"What can I say - it's been my fallback and it's been there for me when nothing else was," said Rocha.
