Rules for Success with the Lap-Band (Direct from Dr. Charles Morton's office)

1. Eat only three small meals a day
2. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly
3. Stop eating as soon as you feel full
4. Do not drink while eating
5. Do not eat between meals
6. Eat only good quality foods
7. Avoid fibrous foods
8. Drink enough fluids during the day
9. Drink only low-calorie liquids
10. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day  

Lap-Band Surgery Diet: 

Foods you can eat -

Proteins: Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Seafood, Pork
Cheese: (Fat-free or Low-Fat)  American, Cheddar, Cottage Cheese, Cream Cheese, Mozzarella, Parmesan, String
Nuts:  Almonds, Cashews, Peanut Butter, Peanuts, Pistachios
Eggs:  You can use egg yolks, egg whites and egg beaters
Fruits:  Apples, Berries (Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries), Cantaloupe, Citrus Fruits (Lemons and Limes for flavoring), Peaches, Pears
Vegetables: Artichokes, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Snow Peas, Squash, Tomatoes, Zucchini
Canned Goods: Canned Chicken/Tuna, No Sugar added pickle relish, Olives, Tomato Soup
Dairy: Cheeses mentioned, Dannon Lite and Fit Yogurt
Protein Shakes: EAS, Silver Carton, Dr. Atkins, Whey Protein
Recommended Condiments:  Good Season Italian Dressing, Mustards, No sugar added pickle relish, Olive Oil

Recommended Beverages: Chicken Broth, Coffee, Crystal Light, Propel, Green Tea, Non-Carbonated, Sugar-Free beverages

Medicaiton: Multi-Vitamin (Centrum or Flinstones Chewable), daily.  Liquid Tylenol, as needed.  Advil Liquid Gel Caplets, as needed.

OTHER MEDICATION MAY CAUSE IRRITATION OF YOUR NEW STOMACH  

Foods to avoid -

All Fruit juices
Soft Carbs: Breads, pastas, french fries, rice, potatoes
Ice Cream
Milkshakes
Anything soft that is high in calories and fat that can go through the band.
